AUDACIOUS is Mota-Engil’s flagship innovation program, powered by MEXT. It connects the Group’s strategic business challenges with startups, scaleups and technology providers from around the world, creating opportunities to co-design pilot concepts for real operational contexts.

The name Audacious reflects the mindset behind the program: looking beyond the expected, challenging established ways of working and testing new approaches with ambition.

Selected participants will have the opportunity to:

• Work on real business challenges with measurable operational relevance
• Engage directly with Mota-Engil’s Business Units, operational experts and decision-makers
• Adapt their solution and co-design a practical pilot concept
• Explore validation in real industrial and infrastructure environments
• Present their pilot concept to senior stakeholders
• Explore future collaboration and potential application across projects, businesses or geographies
• Retain ownership of their intellectual property, technology and equity

Mota-Engil is looking for startups, scaleups and technology providers whose solutions address the approved challenges of the Beyond Safety edition.

Solutions should:

• Be sufficiently mature for a pilot
• Demonstrate clear business value
• Have the potential to generate measurable operational and human impact

• An innovative and differentiated solution
• Technology with sufficient maturity for pilot implementation
• A scalable business model
• A strong fit with at least one approved challenge

Global Scouting

Applications are collected through F6S. Applicants provide information about their company, team, technology, market traction and proposed solution. Submissions are then reviewed against the approved evaluation criteria.

Online Pitch

Selected applicants present their solutions to Mota-Engil’s business and innovation teams, discuss potential use cases and explore alignment with the relevant challenge.

Pilot Design Sprint

Selected teams work alongside Mota-Engil experts and relevant end-users to validate the opportunity, refine the proposed solution and co-design a pilot concept tailored to a real operational challenge.

Showcase

Participants present their pilot concepts to senior stakeholders. The most promising proposals may then move into further discussions regarding scope, feasibility, ownership and conditions for a potential pilot.

No. There is no application or participation fee. Each participating company remains responsible for its own internal costs unless otherwise agreed during a future collaboration.

Participating companies retain ownership of their intellectual property, technology and equity. Participation in AUDACIOUS does not create an exclusivity obligation unless separately agreed in writing.

No. The program is designed to explore, validate and co-design collaboration opportunities. Any pilot will depend on strategic alignment, technical feasibility and mutual agreement between the parties.

Yes. Audacious is a global program, and applications are welcome from startups, scaleups and innovative technology providers worldwide.
